Adding texture: Asian hair: Oh, the many possibilities. Some believe that in life, we just can't have it all… or can we? Here at All Things Hair, we like to think anything we want to do with our hair can be achieved one way or the other. For Asian hair, there's no stopping us in providing ways to add texture to those traditionally straight locks . Read on to discover five ways how you can add texture to your hair!

How to Add Texture to Asian Hair

1. Layered Cuts.

Go for a natural, non-stiff looking cut by getting layers. This is one of the easiest ways to achieve texture on Asian hair. Ask your stylist to create a set of layers in your hair to add volume and movement to your hairstyle. If you want something edgier, ask for razored layers. This will give a more piece-y effect to the ends of the hair. This can also be achieved on shorter crops.

DOVE STYLE+CARE CURLS DEFINING MOUSSE

To style, use a round brush and blow-dry hair away from the face to create volume. If you have shorter hair, use a diffuser for this step. Next,  use a curling iron to curl the ends outward to make your layers more prominent. If you want to add more definition to the ends of your layers, work Dove Style+Care Curls Defining Mousse into your hair before drying. The mousse will give your hairstyle more shape and body.

TRESemmé Firm Control Hairspray

To set it all, finish off your style with TRESemmé TRES Two Ultra Fine Mist Hairspray, which offers flexible hold to ensure movement in your hairstyle.

2. The Braiding Hack.

If you're looking to try out something quick and easy that you can do on your own, choose an easy method that can be done overnight. Braids are one of the most popular methods for creating texture for the hair. On damp hair install one or a few braids into your hair. You may use a gel-cream or mousse for hold. Allow the hair to air dry overnight or give it a blast of heat with a blow-dryer to set the wave in. You can also glide a flat iron along the braid instead of using a flat iron. Be sure to use a heat protectant before using any hot tools on your hair to protect it from damage. In the morning undo the braid(s) and reveal your luxe wavy or curly texture. To keep your texture in place, finish off with a hairspray.

3. Sea Salt Spray

Mimic the subtle wave that comes from a day at the beach by infusing your hair with a sea salt spray. Use Nexxus Between Washes Beach Waves Tousled Texture Sea Salt Spray to add texture and grit to your strands in just a few seconds. Simply mist the spray into damp or dry strands for some instant texture.

4. Curling Iron Skills

Brush up on your curling iron skills and 1-inch curling iron or wand to add some easy bends to your strands. Make sure to leave the ends of each strand out of the iron in order to create a textured look and avoid that overdone ringlet style.

5. Hair Rollers

When in doubt, go back to a classic. Hair rollers are an underrated way to add texture and volume to your strands! Hair rollers add volume and definition to straight hair and use heat or hours of overnight time to make it last.
